The Thread: God does not grant long life – Muslims and Christians debate

There’s a lot to be said for people who jump on other people’s tweets and cause drama where there should be none, but we won’t say. All we’d say is this tweet below snowballed into a religious debate no one saw coming.

First, Dr Dipo was moved to utter this prayer.

To which the people of God said a robust…

Then came a naysayer

Confused? Perhaps a little Objectives test is necessary.

What exactly are the issues here?

a. That there is no prayer for long life in the Bible or Koran?

b. That God does not answer prayers for long life because there is no such prayer in above-named books?

c. That people can live long and yet live purposeless lives so there is no point praying for long life?

Muslims respond:

Christians react with scriptural evidence

The Bible says:

Gimba responds

You misunderstand

Oh, and there’s more where that came from

The good Dr chimes in again

In conclusion

Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find. Matt 7:7

If you believe, you shall receive whatsoever you ask in prayer. Matt 21: 22

And so concludes the reading of God’s word.

*Thanks be to God*
