The death of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Abu Ali has raised quite some questions on social media. He died on Friday, the 4th of November 2016. “The Defence Minister Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali described the death of Lt. Col. M Abu-Ali as a tragic and unfortunate development in the theatre of operations.”
@IfeAdebayo is asking questions about the Nigerian military and the Lieutenant Colonel’s death.

1. The death of Lt Colonel Abu Ali is really outrageous. This should go beyond the usual RIP and thank you for gallantry messages.
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
2. We need to ask some serious questions – how is boko haram able to kill a senior officer with so much ease at this stage of the conflict?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
3. How is boko haram still able to launch attacks on military positions? Why r we defending positions instead of attacking their positions?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
4. Why are officers like Lt Colonel Abu Ali spending 4 years in battle? Why isn't there proper rotation of troops?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
5. Why should one officer spend 4 years in battle while there are officers sitting in the office growing pot belly in abuja?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
6. The army is a fighting force. When you spend maximum one year in battle, there should be rotation. Let other officers sign rifle and move
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
7. The American military deploys soldiers for 6 months, maximum 1 year in battle & rotate. This is standard practice even for @DefenceInfoNG
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
8. Why is this not being done by @DefenceInfoNG? Lt Col Abu Ali had ear problems due to explosions, why wasn't he pulled out? @ogundamisi
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
9. Where are the new equipments? Soldiers in battle tell me they have not gotten any new equipment since February 2016 @DefenceInfoNG
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
10. The American MRAPs, why haven't they been deployed? What is @DefenceInfoNG waiting for? For all the officers and men to be killed?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
11. Reliable info from the front tells me the rains hampered boko haram movt the past months, rains gone, attacks increasing @DefenceInfoNG
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
12. What did the army do when rains hampered movt to decimate these guys and prevent attacks like the one that killed Col Ali in dry season?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
13. @ogundamisi tweeted a video of soldiers fighting in the open with no armour and no cover a few days ago. How do we even let this happen?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
14. The armed forces @DefenceInfoNG is doing sports event and building housing units. ALL RESOURCES SHOULD BE IN THE NORTH EAST.
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
15. I am afraid we ( @DefenceInfoNG ) are not giving this war the attention it deserves. I thought the military HQ was moved to Maiduguri?
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
16. Truth is… @DefenceInfoNG your officers and men on the ground ARE NOT HAPPY. They think the system is NOT WORKING FOR THEM.
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
17. Something must give. Like one of your officers @DefenceInfoNG told me last year "WE ARE LOSING OUR BEST". Lt Col Ali is another example
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
18. We need to ask @DefenceInfoNG the right questions and they need to answer us. We simply are not doing enough. We are not.
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
.@DefenceInfoNG should know that history is being written. And if they don't change FAST, it won't be on their side.
— Ife Adebayo (@IfeAdebayo) November 6, 2016
And that’s the truth.
