The Thread: This is how our generation is being remote controlled

Yesterday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission discovered a huge stash of money in a building in Ikoyi, Lagos state.

Before this, they had discovered an equally humongous stash of cash- 250M in Balogun market, also in Lagos. Before that, the anti-graft Commission had also discovered N448M in LEGICO Shopping Plaza, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island in Lagos.

Curiously, the Commission has hardly an idea who the owners of these monies are. It says it is on the trail of the plaza owner and shop owner. As for the over $50M dollars discovered at 16 Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, at least 3 persons – Senator Adeola, Andrew Mu’Azu, Ogbue- have been named as owners of the cash and all have denied the allegations.

In the midst of the discoveries, claims and denials, Twitter NG has been buzzing with indignation over the blatant stripping of the country’s coffers. Twitter NG has been divided into camps- those who believe the EFCC is doing its job and those who think the EFCC is consolidating its efficiency with sensational media trials. Of course, it has further resulted in party politics- APC, PDP and Fencists.
