“The Anambra killing is a sad episode and it brings to light the penchant of some Nigerians for getting rich quick and we don’t ask questions when we see people get into sudden wealth. Sad for the innocent folks who lost their lives over such senseless killings and I hope the police get the criminals responsible for such heinous crime” said an Insider working for the APC.

Another Insider with the PDP who believes that the police were too hasty in their conclusions stated that “On the Anambra tragedy, it is quite unfortunate that this wickedness is taking place. What I don’t like is the hasty conclusion by the Police on the matter without investigation. I believe a thorough investigation will search out the truth behind the killing”

The Anambra church killings brought to the fore the level of insecurity in the country and the fact that it has permeated even places that are conventionally regarded as safe havens. The killings which the police had attributed to clashes between two groups that are involved in drug pushing is said to have led to the death of about 13 worshipers, with about 20 injured. Most of the Insiders condemned the killings in their response.

“You can see the way they are handling this, they are not even allowing the so called acting President to react to the matter, the President who is sick, who allegedly wrote to the National Assembly that he was away because I doubt if he was the one who wrote the letter, was the one that condemned the attack, he was the one that reached out to the Anambra people. So the cabals are hell bent on holding the country to ransom,” said another Insider.

The question again is where exactly is safe in the country? From the North East to the North West down to the North central. The South-South recently just had a hiatus from militants; the South West had recently witnessed a high degree of cult activities, as well as kidnapping. The Nigerian security architecture is obviously under attack from within. It is even more complicated knowing fully well that the Nigerian military had been stretched practically beyond its limits.

“Despicable. This is not a time to play politics with the killings of innocent Nigerians. It is a time to rally for justice and guard against recurrence”, said another Insider.

The government would need to do more than they are doing at present to protect lives and properties of Nigerians, especially given the fact that Nigerians are beginning to looking for alternative and taking laws into their hands.
