Following the political advert placed on the cover of Punch Newspaper, by the governor of Ekiti, Ayo Fayose, journalist, Tolu Ogunlesi has described the move as distasteful and crass.
In the advert, Fayose compared the presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, to former leaders, who died in office.
The advert sought to liken the trio of “Murtala Mohammed, Sani Abacha, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua” to Buhari, with the caption: “Nigeria, I have set before thee life and death. Therefore, choose life that both these and thy seed may live.
“Will you allow history to repeat itself? Enough of state burials. Northern presidency should wait till 2019,” it added.
Reacting via his Twitter handle, Ogunlesi said the advert is the “crassest, most imbecilic thing ever.”

You set a bible verse about life & death against a row of Muslim leaders who died in office. Amazing. pic.twitter.com/6K0tApuBaJ

I commiserate with Ekiti people. May God forgive whatever sins brought Fayose upon your heads.

Like the #BringBackJonathan banners, this also deserves a presidential denunciation. Over to you @abati1990 pic.twitter.com/QlmyyaAoa2
