Arese becomes first winner of #TheVoiceNigeria

Arese, winner of the debut season of The Voice Nigeria

Agharese Emokpae has won the debut season of #TheVoiceNigeria beating 47 other contestants on her wy to the title.

Arese walks away with a universal contract, a 4 night gateway to Dubai and an SUV worth 7 million Naira.

The 28-year-old was announced winner on the the finale which aired tonight.

Timi Dakolo and his two mentees – Cornel and Dewe set the ball rolling for the night with a fiery rendition of the Nigerian star’s single Heaven Please.

Clad in a black agbada, one of the favourites touted to win the competition – Chike from #TeamPatoranking followed up with a beautiful performance of Bob Marley‘s No Woman No Cry.

Up next was the second member of Team Patoranking – Nonso Bassey who sang Impossible by American singer, Shontelle.

Viveeyan and Brenda came out strong representing #Team2Baba with the former performing Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking ball while the latter delivered a combination of two of Adele’s two hit tracks – Rumour Has It and Someone Like You.

Waje stepped out with two of her mentees – Arese and Patrick. Together, they wowed the audience with one of her hits – Ominiknowest. 

Cornel proved again why he is referred to as The Voice ‘Beast’ when he executed R. Kelly’s classic World’s Greatest brilliantly for his second performance of the night and Dewe serenaded the audience with Lukas Graham’s 7 Years.

Patoranking and the two contestants on his team – Chike and Nonso Bassey then performed No Kissing Baby off the Dancehall singer’s God Over Everything (GOE) album to be released on August 1.

Team2Baba transported the audience to a spiritual heaven with a performance of 2Baba’s new song titled The Devil is a Liar.

Patrick sure made Waje proud when he sang a reggae cover of John Legend‘s All of You.

Closing the second and final string of performances by the top 8 with a bang was Arese as she got the audience on their feet with a performance of Aretha Franklin‘s Think. 

It was an emotional moment when the top 4 were announced. Making the cut was Brenda from #Team2Baba, followed by Arese from #TeamWaje, then it was Chike from #TeamPatoranking and Cornel from #TeamTimi.

Cornel then took the audience way back when he performed Lionel Richie’s All Night Long for his final performance of the night. The ladies man himself, Chike dropped one for the females when he sang Kiss Daniel’s Mama.

Arese sent the audience into a holy trance and got her mentor in tears with a beautiful rendition of Alexandra Burke’s Hallelujah.

Brenda finished things off with a one of a kind performance of Wizkid’s Ojuelegba.

Arese was announced the winner of the debut season of show while Chike and Arese were then unveiled as the top two contestants.
