Three killed as Kaduna imposes curfew

The Kaduna state government has imposed a 24-hour-curfew on Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru LGA, following the hostility that started in the area on Thursday evening. The incident claimed three lives and a house razed in the troubled community.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Kajuru local government, Cafra Caino, said the situation had been brought under control, following the curfew imposed on the area by the state government to avert further violence.

Buhari donates $500,000, 350 electoral kits to Guinea-Bissau for election

President Muhammadu Buhari has donated half a million dollars, 350 units of electoral kits, 10 motorcycles, five Hilux vans, and two light trucks to the government of Guinea-Bissau.

According to a series of tweets on the verified Twitter handle of Presidency Nigeria, Buhari made the donations in response to an urgent request for assistance by the Government of Guinea-Bissau towards the country’s election.

Governors must pay 30,000 minimum wage – NLC

Organised labour on Thursday warned that no state chapter of labour movement would accept any renegotiation for downward review of the already signed minimum wage law of N30,000 from any state governor.

The National President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, made the declaration in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, while presiding over the election of a new leadership of the NLC in the state. He stated that the Nigerian workers were under strict instructions not to accept any minimum wage less than N30,000 from the governors.

Overhaul security architecture – NLC tells Buhari

Labour yesterday passed a damning verdict on the security agencies for their handling of security matters. The agencies, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) said, had failed to rise up to the challenges of kidnapping and banditry across the country. It urged President Muhammadu Buhari to rejig the system.

Labour also blamed the widening gap between the rich and the poor on bad governance.
