Super Eagles beat Guinea 1-0 in #AFCON2019, qualify for round of 16

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have emerged as the first team to qualify for the Round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. The Eagles beat the Syli Nationale of Guinea by a lone goal to zoom into the round of 16 with a game to spare. Kenneth Omeruo got the only goal for Nigeria as he nodded in a cross from Moses Simon in the 73rd minute.

Tribunal adjourns Atiku, PDP petition till July 

The presidential election petition tribunal has adjourned till July 1 to entertain a motion brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the June 11 proceedings of the tribunal.

The court postponed its hearing, following a request by the PDP through its counsel, Chris Uche, for time to file the replies on points of law, after getting the initial responses from parties to their application against the June 11 happenings in court.

Court dismisses case against Kwara governor over certificate surgery

A High Court sitting in Ilorin on Wednesday dismissed the certificate forgery case filed against Kwara sgovernor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq following the claimant’s application to withdraw the case.

Senators’ monthly pay is N15m, Sagay replies Lawan

The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has asked Senate President Ahmed Lawan to stop misleading Nigerians, adding that senators earn N15m monthly and not N750,000 as claimed by the Senate President.

Lawan had said on Tuesday that there was no such thing as ‘jumbo pay’, adding that he earns N750,000 as salary.

Jonathan approved procurement of ammunition – Amosun

Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Ogun state, says the government of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan approved the procurement of over 1000 AK 47 rifles to boost security in the state.

He spoke in reaction the the reports that he handed over the guns and one million bullets to the police a day to the inauguration of a new government in the state.
