Nigeria’s population staggeringly hits 201m in new UNFPA report

According to a report released by the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA), Nigeria’s population has hit a staggering high of 201 million.  The report says contraceptive prevalence rate among Nigerian women aged 15-49 is only 19 percent, adding that decision making on sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights among these women has averaged at 51 percent between 2007 to 2018.

Hence 49 percent of Nigerian women still do not have the power to decide on their sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights.

Buhari, APC, out to cover corruption, incompetence – PDP

Dickson rejects life pension bill for lawmakers

The governor of Balyesa state, Seriake Dickson, has withdrawn his assent on controversial bill passed by state House of Assembly seeking life pension for lawmakers.

Commissioner for Information, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, quoted Dickson as conveying the decision to decline assent to the bill in a letter to the Speaker of the Assembly, Kombowei Benson, on Monday.

Lagos Assembly passes 2019 budget

Lagos state House of Assembly on Monday afternoon passed the 2019 budget of the state at plenary. While the total buget size is N873, 532, 460, 725; capital expenditure stands at N479, 691, 073, 705 and recurrent expenditure is N393, 841, 387, 020.There is a difference of N21.215b from the budget presented by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in February which was N852.317b.

The Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, conveyed the governor’s position, when he spoke in Takete Ide Amuro in Mopamuro Local Government.

He was briefing newsmen after an APC Stakeholders Meeting in the Ward.
