Lai Mohammed to appear in court over N2.5 billion NBC fraud allegation

The immediate past Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has been scheduled to appear before a Federal High Court, Abuja, to explain his role in the alleged misapplication of N2.5 billion Federal Government Digital Switch-Over (DSO) programme.

The planned appearance of Mr Mohammed was revealed by the Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), who is prosecuting the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Ishaq Kawu, over an alleged abuse of office and money laundering. The ICPC said this in a post on its website on Thursday.

29 farmers feared dead in fresh Borno attack

At least 29 farmers were killed in cold blood when Boko Haram insurgents attacked two Borno communities on Monday, sources have said. The incidents occurred on the day the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, paid a courtesy visit on the Borno State governor, Babagana Umara.

Committee accuses Okorocha’ aides of looting N50bn govt property

The Chairman of the Committee on Recovery of Missing Government Movable Property in Imo State, Chief Jasper Ndubuaku, has disclosed that officials of the administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha left with the state government’s property worth N50bn.

The state governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, set up the committee shortly after he was sworn in.

Twelve injured as another building collapses in Lagos 

No less than twelve people were injured after the collapse of a three-storey building in Fagba area of Lagos state. It was gathered that the building, which was under construction, collapsed on Wednesday night, leaving many people trapped in the rubble. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the chief executive officer of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident to reporters.

Some people are plotting to smear my reputation – Amaechi

Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, has raised the alarm over a “heavily funded” campaign to smear him.

In a statement on Thursday, Amaechi said the aim of the campaign is to tarnish his “towering status” and do damage to his character and reputation.

The former minister said there is also an attempt to drag his name and that of an immediate family member into the affairs of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
