CJN Tanko Muhammad appoints new Chief Judge of the Federal High Court

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Friday, swore in Justice John Tsoho as acting Chief Judge (CJ) of the Federal High Court. His appointment was sequel to the retirement of Justice Adamu AbdulKafarati, who attained the retirement age of 65 years on July 25.

IG orders upgrade of security across Nigeria

The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, on Friday, ordered the upgrade of security services in all the 36 states in the country.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the police spokesperson, Frank Mba, with reference number Ref No. CZ.5300/FPRD/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.2/63. “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has ordered the immediate beef-up of security in all the States of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja,” the statement partly read.

Some ministerial nominees may be disqualified – Senator

A Bayelsa State senator, Lawrence Ewrudjiakpo, has said nominees who do not submit their certificate of declaration of assets could be disqualified. He made this statement while briefing journalists at the National Assembly on Friday.

WAEC withholds results of 180,205 candidates 

The West African Examination Council has disclosed that, of the 1,590,173 candidates who registered and sat for the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates, 180,205 candidates currently have their results withheld.

This was made known by WAEC’s Head of Nigeria National Office, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, at a briefing on Friday at the Council’s national office in Yaba, Lagos.

We have the power to sell Badeh’s properties – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said that it has the powers to dispose of the assets retrieved from late former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, the way it deemed fit.

In handing over a mansion in Abuja forfeited by Badeh to the Voice of Nigeria, the Commission said it acted within the law and in accordance with the guidelines on the management of forfeited properties.
