Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi, has pleaded with fans to be patient with new signing, Eden Hazard. The Belgian moved to Chelsea from Lille in a transfer worth €35 million, and the Nigeria admits that the 21-year-old will need time to adjust to the English League.

“He’s a good player that just needs time to adapt to the English game,” Obi told Goal.com. “The English game is always difficult no matter who you are. It always takes time.”

Hazard, who has already scored in his pre-season debut for Chelsea against the Seattle Sounders, scored 27 times and made 25 assists in the last two seasons for Lille. Obi is confident that he will soon start producing the goods for Chelsea.

“He’s a great player and he’s shown some flashes of what he can do. We just have to give him time,” Mikel added.

Obi also confirmed that he is happy with the new tactical approach adopted by Roberto Di Matteo.

“I did it last season [adjusting to a new style] and I’ve been doing it since I’ve come here. I just keep on doing what I do,” he said.
