No vacation for you, Bulkachuwa tells Appeal Court judges

The President of the Court of Appeal, Zainab Bulkachuwa, has cancelled this year’s annual vacation of judges of the court. Federal High Court judges had on July 8 started their annual vacation and some other judges were due to commence theirs on Monday, July 15.

But in a statement on Sunday, the media officer of the Court of Appeal, Sa’adatu Musa-Kachalla, said the cancellation of the vacation of appellate court judges was due to “the enormous (election) petitions the court is faced with.”

Buhari’s govt. has failed – Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, says the Federal Government has failed, adding that the government is not capable of solving Nigeria’s problems. Soyinka lamented the violence caused by herdsmen, the indiscriminate grazing of cattle and the destruction of farmlands. He revealed this on his 85th birthday on Channels TV.

The presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the last election, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has said that the responses of the present government to the security challenges besetting the nation are so weak.

Moghalu, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, said that the kind of solutions that are being put on the table is simply inadequate to meet the challenges.

Impeachment notice on Obaseki not from us – Edo lawmakers-elect

Members-elect of the Edo House of Assembly yet- to-be inaugurated have disowned a purported impeachment notice on Governor Godwin Obaseki. They stated the notice currently circulating did not emanate from them. In a statement by the 14 members in Abuja, the lawmakers said the document is fake and a calculated attempt to smear their names for standing on the path of truth.

Don’t exonerate herdsmen in death of Fasoranti’s daughter – Ohanaeze tells FG

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, apex Igbo socio-cultural group, says the murder of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Fasoranti, Afenifere leader, is capable of throwing the country into anarchy. In a statement signed by Nnia Nwodo, president general of Ohaneze, the group said the inability of security forces to bring the criminals to book is becoming worrying.
