Lawan bows to pressure, rescinds Festus Adebayo’s appointment 

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has reversed his appointment of Festus Adedayo as his special adviser for media and publicity. This was made known in a statement by his special assistant on media and publicity, Mohammed Isa.

NAFDAC to ban paraquat, atrazine products, curtail use of Sniper

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it will soon ban the use of Paraquat and Atrazine products by farmers. The agency said it would mount evidence that the products hurt applicators and the environment.

He also announced stricter measures to curtail the use of Snipper (Dichlorvos or 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate) in homes to end the abuse of the pesticide which in recent times had been associated with suicides in Nigeria.

We’ll resist Fulani vigilantes in Igboland – Ohaneze tells Miyetti Allah

TO combat insecurity, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has called for establishment of Fulani Youth Vigilante body in the South-East to complement those in their host communities’ and other constituted security apparatus in the zone.

President-General of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo said the group would resist Fulani vigilantes in Igboland, while the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, described the proposal as a provocative agenda.

Nigeria will support efforts for political stability in neighbouring countries – Buhari

Buhari on Thursday pledged the support of Nigeria towards the maintenance of political stability in her western neighbours. President Buhari who who made the pledge when he received the President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon that was on a courtesy call at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, harped on the importance of good neighbourliness.

Buhari on Thursday has said it was criminal for parents to keep their children out of school especially in the first nine years of basic education. President Buhari stated this in his remarks after inaugurating the 2019 to 2023 National Economic Council, NEC at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
