Three Nigerians ask Supreme Court to nullify Buhari’s election for allegedly lying on oath 

Three Nigerians have filed a suit at the Supreme Court against President Muhammadu Buhari’s academic qualification for the 2019 presidential election. The applicants, Kalu Kalu, Labaran Ismail and Hassy Kyari el-Kuris, have approached the apex court to nullify the candidacy of Mr Buhari on academic grounds.

Presidency justifies proscription of Shiite IMN 

The presidency has defended the proscription of the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN). According to Premium Times, the federal government secured a controversial order from a high court to ban the group. The order was obtained ‘exparte,’ meaning other interested parties such as the IMN were neither notified nor allowed to be present before the court gave the order.

FG, US sell $42m Diezani ally’s luxury yatch 

The Federal Government of Nigeria and the United States Government have sold off a 65-metre Galactica Star super yacht worth $42m (N15.1bn) belonging to oil magnate Kola Aluko, who was accused of cheating Nigeria out of almost $1.8bn (N648bn) in siphoned crude oil sales.

Aluko, who is an ally of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been on the radar of anti-graft agencies for the last four years.

INEC opens defence on Atiku’s petition 

As the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal resumes sitting on Monday (today), the Independent National Electoral Commission is scheduled to open its defence in response to the petition filed by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his Peoples Democratic Party challenging the outcome of the February 23, 2019 presidential poll.

Don’t reappoint Ngige as Labour minister, NLC warns Buhari

The Nigeria Labour Congress has warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to return Dr Chris Ngige as the Minister of Labour and Productivity in the next cabinet. It warned that returning the former Anambra State governor as minister would create industrial crisis, adding that Ngige lacked the approach to lead workers.
