National Judicial Council, NJC, on Wednesday recommended the appointment of Justice Tanko Muhammad as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN. The legal body okayed Justice Muhammad to assume full control of the judiciary after its emergency meeting in Abuja.

Following the alleged murder of the Deputy Director-General of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Elizabeth Ndubusi-Chukwu, in South Africa  recently, President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Wednesday in a plenary warned that the South African government must extend due respect to Nigeria and should not take the good gesture towards it for granted. He also warned the South African government to halt the frequent killings of Nigerians by its citizens to avoid grave consequences.

The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has warned pilgrims to this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to resist any temptation to carry hard drugs to the holy land. Speaking on the heels of the inaugural flight of intending pilgrims, Dabiri-Erewa reminded them that Saudi laws prescribe death penalty against such act.
