Detained Madonna University students, lecturer released from prison
A day after a court granted them freedom, six students and a lecturer of the Madonna University, Okija, Anambra, were on Thursday released from prison. The students had been arrested for Facebook posts which allegedly portrayed the school in a bad light.
Senate moves to increase budgetary allocation for primary healthcare
The Senate on Thursday called for an increase in the budgetary allocation for primary health care (PHC) services in Nigeria. The Senate also urged the Ministry of Health to create awareness on the benefits of health and life insurance. This call followed a motion on the need for increased funding of primary health care sponsored by Oluremi Tinubu (APC, Lagos Central) and 106 other senators.

Court grants ICPC’s request to list Lai as witness in 2.5bn fraud case
A high court in the federal capital territory (FCT) has granted the application of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to list Lai Mohammed, former minister of information, as witness in a “N2.5 billion fraud case”. The anti-graft agency is prosecuting Ishaq Kawu, director-general of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), for alleged abuse of office and money laundering.
COZA not our member – CAN
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) is not its member. Kwamkur Vondip, national director, legal and public affairs of CAN, said this in a statement on Wednesday.
