Police IG reorders re-deployment of Kaduna CP, others
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the redeployment of the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police and others. This was revealed as a statement on Wednesday, which stated that the redeployment is part of efforts aimed at rejigging the fight against armed banditry, kidnapping and other sundry crimes across the nation, particularly in Kaduna ”and other contiguous states.”
District head of Buhari’s hometown Daura kidnapped
Musa Umar, the district head of Daura, has been kidnapped by four unidentified gunmen. Daura in Katsina State is the hometown of Muhammadu Buhari. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the kidnappers stormed Umar’s Daura residence at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and sporadically shot into the air, scaring the hell out of bystanders, who scampered for safety.
Workers in Cross River State have protested the payment of May salaries on the first day of the month by Governor Ben Ayade, as part of the Workers’ Day celebrations. Ayade has made it a habit of being the first to pay salaries in the country and has in each of the last three years paid May salaries on the first day of the month.
But speaking on the development, the state chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Clarkson Otu, said workers and the leadership of labour were unhappy over the early payment of salaries by the state government.
17 feared dead as bandits invade Katsina villages, destroys houses
Not fewer than seventeen persons have been reportedly killed on Tuesday in an attack launched by armed bandits on two villages of Gobirawa and Sabawa in Safana local government area of Katsina.
A lawmaker representing Safana Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Abduljalal Haruna Runka while confirming the incidence put the number of persons killed at 17, adding that it is still verifying.
Buhari lied about his academic credentials – Atiku tells Tribunal
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, have accused President Muhammadu Buhari of making false claims about his academic qualifications.
The party and its candidate argued that the President’s claim, in his response to the petition they filed at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), that he (Buhari) was more qualified than Atiku, was also a false assertion. They noted that unlike Atiku, the President failed to exhibit his credentials, which he claimed to possess.
