Super Falcons confirm receipt of payment of allowances

Members of the Super Falcons have confirmed payment of their allowances by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The players had protested the non-payment of their allowances and bonuses after winning the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon.

Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari had promised that the Federal Government will pay in 48 hours, after the players stormed the NASS during the presentation of the 2017 budget by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Federal Government then released about US$1.2m to the cash-strapped NFF on Friday to pay the ladies.

Some of the players confirmed that they have started receiving N4.8m, which they claimed was for winning the AWCON.

“I saw my bank alert this (Monday) morning and what was paid into my account was N4.8m, which is just for winning the AWCON. They have not paid us money for the qualifiers but they told us that they will pay,” a player said.
