The South West will support Sheriff as PDP Chairman on one condition

The Peoples Democratic Party is at present, a house apart, ahead of its national convention scheduled for May 21.

The sole bone of contention is the zoning of the party’s chairmanship to the North West at the expense of the South West.

While Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose is one of the chief backers of Sheriff, party chieftain, Bode George and other PDP elders from the South West have resolved to fight all attempts to deprive the region of the chairmanship of the party.

The South-West zonal leaders were initially hell bent that the current Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff must step aside by May 21, but after a meeting in Akure on Wednesday, May 4, their stance has changed, albeit with one condition.

The South West PDP is inkling towards supporting Sheriff on the condition that he signs a written agreement that he will step aside in 2017.

What Now: If all South West stakeholders can agree to this compromise, then all will be well in the PDP, but if not, the party is headed for an iceberg.
