SK Johnson: Sauce Kid, Godwon, please, pass the mic (and answer these 3 questions)

mic

The past couple of days have seen the Nigerian online space hit with a deluge of noise about lists and rappers and lists about rappers and rappers rapping about lists. There’s been so much input from so many angles that I imagine the mere sound or sight or the word “list” causes people everywhere to cringe, or react in a similar fashion. That’s fine. I felt the same way too, and I was glad it was finally blowing over, until some guys known as “Sauce Kid” and “Godwon” decided they were in the mood to show Twitter just how immature they are. Honestly, if they want to “beef” each other and record a million diss tracks and – insert any other action they might take here- I don’t mind. But I’m curious about a few things.

1. Who are you? This is directed mostly at Godwon (by the way, is that meant to be the past tense of Godwin? I digress) seeing as I’d actually heard the name “Sauce Kid” before this whole ruckus, though I struggle to remember any of his music.

2. Are you aware you are irrelevant in the music industry?

3. Are you aware you could put your time to better use by thinking of ways to actually make an impact on the industry? Unless of course you consider weak attempts at diss tracks, and petty fights on Twitter as an impact, because in that case, you have already failed.

  1. Your opinion tho' and its just fine.
These things makes the music (rap) scene interesting, as long as no one is shooting anyone.
Rap's always about the show-offs, tight lines while making sense.
Kendrick Lamar's recent episode (Control) brought about the same effect, so, I also just think NotjustOK wanted same thing to happen, you know, to wake up some of these sleeping MCs…literally speaking.
