The senior special assistant on protocol to Borno Governor, Kashim Shettima, identified as Farouk Farouk has died in a road crash.

According to a source, Farouk died in an accident involving the governor’s convoy, which occurred along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

A driver, who sustained injuries in the accident, has reportedly been taken to an undisclosed hospital.

It is not clear if Governor Shettima was on his way to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari who returned to the country after a 49-day vacation in London.

Shettima was not among the governors present at the Presidential villa to welcome Buhari.
