Shettima takes the #1 position, Ortom spews garbage | YNaija Effectiveness Ranking for Governors

Northern governors set up committee to expose Boko Haram sponsors | YNaija.com

Borno governor, Kashim Shettima has taken the number one position in the YNaija Effectiveness Ranking for Governors.

Despite battling Boko Haram insurgents in the state, Shettima has been able to steady affairs in the state. The Borno governor recently slammed his other colleagues for amassing the wealth of their states, calling on them to desist from such behaviour. Sokoto governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who previously held the number one position dropped out of the top twenty. The former Speaker of the House of Representatives decided that it was wise to build a seven hundred million naira home for the Sultan of Sokoto in Abuja. Such wasteful behaviour should not be condoned in any way.

Ondo Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu rose few places due to the role the state played in securing the release of six schoolboys kidnapped in Lagos.

Like Akeredolu, Kano Governor, Umar Ganduje rose in the rankings in the week under review. There is an ongoing ‘war’ between Northern youth and Igbos over the October 1 quit notice termed the Kaduna Declaration. Speaking over the weekend, Ganduje said he alongside other Northen elders have spoken the voice of reason to the youth, saying there’s no way he would allow the Igbos leave the North.

Governors Wike and his Ekiti counterpart, Ayodele Fayose hardly ever make the news for something positive. If they are not attacking one politician or the other, they are insulting the police and the Army. In the week under review, they once again repeated this as Fayose attacked former President Olusegun Obasanjo, while Wike took turns to attack his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi.

The worst of the lot in the week under review is Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom. Ortom was one of the governors ‘privileged’ to visit President Muhammadu Buhari in London. Nigerians expected the likes of Ortom to provide a status report on Buhari’s health, but what did they get. They were insulted. The wheelbarrow distributing governor decided it was appropriate to label all Nigerians as sick because the president is sick.
