Just In: Saraki, Ekweremadu granted bail

Senate President Bukola Saraki, his deputy Ike Ekweremadu, former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa and his deputy, Benedict Efeturi – have been granted bail by Justice Yusuf Haliru of the Federal High Court Abuja.

Saraki, Ekweremadu and the two others on Monday, pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery of the Senate Standing Order.

The judge ruled that the defendants should provide two reasonable sureties who must be Nigerians and who must own property in Abuja, else they should be remanded in Kuje prison, Abuja.

The case has been adjourned to Jully 11, for commencement of trial.
