This piece of information seeped to us through the grapevine and has left us just as shocked as the rest of you.

Nollywood blog, Playground.ng reported hours ago that the Doyles have split up. So far, it is still very much unconfirmed news but it’s already very hard to bear.

Iretiola and Patrick Doyle have been married for over twenty years and have for so long been one of the few examples of the perfect Nollywood couple.

Ireti Doyle, who warmed her way into most hearts with her role as Sisticuli in popular sitcom, Fuji House of Commotion, has reportedly moved out of her home to “a new apartment in Anthony village, Lagos”.

The couple who have six children together are said to have “stopped having shared interests” for some time now but who would have imagined that they had any issues? Were we too busy celebrating Ireti’s recent successes in the industry that we completely ignored the signs? Or maybe the couple put up a fantastic act that we fell for this whole time? Which brings us to the question, when did this all start?

Interestingly, the Tinsel actress, Ireti was all over the news early on in the week after she revealed in a speech at a church seminar that she got pregnant as a teenager. Patrick himself made a few headlines weeks ago after he chided young musicians for adopting misleading lyrics using Davido’s 30 billion for the akant as reference. There were no pointers to the possibilities of a marital crisis from either of the couple.

As we tried to wrap our heads round this piece of information, we came across a few comments on some of the blogs who have shared the news. Most of the reactions are tailored around disappointment and someone even described the couple as “role models” and there’s really no better way to say it.

But before we make more fuss about this, we’d like to see the couple publicly confirm or dispel the rumour.
