#RioOlympics: Ethiopia wins Africa’s first gold

The United States of America has remained top on the Olympics medal table for the 7th day in a row.

The USA have a total of 50 medals; 20 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze. China remains second with 37 medals, having 13 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze.

Ethiopia won Africa’s first gold as Almaz Ayana broke the 10,000m World Record in 29.17:45.

Defending Champions, USA were knocked out of the Women’s football competition by Sweden through penalties.

A total of 372 medals have been won by 63 countries.
