The National Association of Resident Doctors has announced the suspension of the nationwide strike with effect from today.

The strike commenced on last week Monday after the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum. Resident Doctors took the decision to go on strike after a series of meetings between the doctors and the Federal Government ended in an impasse.

The resident doctors said it took the decision in order to enable the government time to fulfill outstanding demands following an appeal by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and other stakeholders.

APC picks Worgu to replace Giadom

Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Worgu Boms has been chosen by the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers to fill the vacant post of the Deputy National Secretary of the party.

Worgu will be replacing Hon. Victor Giadom, who had resigned from the position in 2018 to be running mate to Tonye Cole, Rivers governorship aspirant in the 2019 election. Giadom has now declared himself the National Chairman of the party after securing a court order to that effect.

Domestic and international flights remain suspended – NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA says Domestic and International flights in the country remain suspended. The flights were banned as part of measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

I am the acting national chairman of APC – Giadom writes INEC

Victor Giadom who secured a court order which backed his resumption as the Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has written the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) introducing himself as the ruling party’s acting chairman.

Though another high court in Rivers state has restrained Giadom from parading himself as chairman of the APC, he told INEC in a letter dated June 18 to serve all processes and documents concerning APC elections as well as other correspondences to him.
