We have your receipt: Between Fayose and the APC – 2018 is just around the corner

Since the PDP’s failure to retain their dominance of Ondo state, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state who unfortunately remains the only PDP governor in the Southwest has been uncomfortable or so it seems. Or we’ll just use APC’s words: jittery and confused.

Governor Fayose is infamous for blasting the ruling party and its leaders and the constant criticism of President Buhari’s administration. Very recently, he asserted that the party will soon cease to exist as it was “founded on deceit. He has successfully passed a message across to Nigerians: the APC is a lawless party, its leaders are ruthless and he will not be a part of such…

In the past week though, Governor Fayose has given us reasons to raise eyebrows. He announced at a meeting in Ikere Ekiti that he is not sure what party he will be pitching his tent with come 2018 elections. This comes as a major surprise considering his loyalty to the PDP, although he has not hesitated to condemn the crisis that has rocked the party in the past year.

But the question is this: If Governor Fayose is unsure of the party he’ll be contesting under in 2018, where is he considering decamping to?

In the APC camp however, there is a solid assurance that their biggest critic may be eyeing their party or maybe, word has gotten out that Fayose is weighing his options and the APC seems to appeal to him more than the others. Or isn’t that what they say? If you can’t beat them, join them.

But the APC won’t even allow Governor Fayose make his intentions public, they have put word out that there is no place for Fayose in their party. Their words: “Sensing that PDP is in the throes of death, he is contemplating dumping the party for APC, but there is no place for him in APC as he is only looking for an escape route from prosecution for his various infractions on the law since his first aborted tenure as governor“.

APC will never accept such a destabilising character and does not have a space for such a demagogue without any ideological bent other than to seize state powers for personal benefits after causing confusion and disaffection among the leaders and running members to the bush“.

Now that is our receipt! We will be here to remind the APC of these words when they welcome Governor Ayodele Fayose to the party with fanfare and group Ankara in late 2017 or early 2018.

Oh, and Governor Fayose also later retorted: “Why should I leave the PDP and join a party of hunger like APC? Ekiti is different from Ondo. By the grace of God, there will be a repeat of history here in 2018, I shall repeat the 16-0 that I gave them in 2014.

Well, we have in our hands a double receipt and we will not hesitate to yank it out when the time is right and it will be soon.
