Reactions trail death of Tolulope Arotile; Nigeria’s first female air combat pilot

The Nigerian Air Force has lost one of its finest helicopter pilots, Tolulope Arotile, who died in the early hours of Wednesday after failing to recover from injuries sustained in a motor accident.

Nine months ago, Tolulope was celebrated and decorated as the first female helicopter pilot in the history of the Nigerian Air Force by Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.

Reacting to this sad story, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to express their emotions on the story as many send condolences to the family.

Many expressed amazement at what Tolulope had achieved before she passed, they pointed out that the loss is heavy as they also thanked her for her service.

23-year-old Tolulope Arotile was Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot. Eight months ago, she was celebrated for her achievements by the Nigerian Air Force as she had also concluded a programme at the Starlite International Training Academy, South Africa to better her skills as a military personnel.

Tolulope has been a source of inspiration for many who had expressed interest in joining the military as her achievement received massive recognition by Nigerians. She would be remembered as the first female air combat pilot by the Nigerian Air Force.
