Psquare Saga: Is Peter Okoye doing something wrong?

You may have seen the “all mighty” video of the Okoye brothers – Paul, Peter and Jude – screaming loudly at each other in an altercation that nearly translated into a physical exchange.

From what we see in the video and what has been the case since their first major feud in 2014, older brother, Jude and one-half of the twins, Paul were on one side while other half, Peter was on the other side. From all indications, Jude has always tilted towards Paul and with this new fight, that has not changed.

Peter Okoye, the more physically and socially active Psquare member was the first to officially let the public in on the details of their internal issues in a letter he sent to their lawyer, demanding that their agreement be terminated. In the letter, he accused his twin of “threatening his wife and family”, accused Jude of “threatening to shoot him and put him in a coffin” and other scathing bits of information that should never have seeped out of the family circle.

Without attempting to apportion blames, Peter is presumably the source of the video that made the rounds Tuesday morning. The one who is quicker to proceed to launching a solo career with the moniker, Mr P. He accused Paul of solely cancelling their U.S tour behind him but Peter is the one performing as an independent artiste in different parts of the United States next week.

Peter’s slight actions may come across as inconsequential but in a larger sense, they make up for what may be the death of Psquare. Of course, his nuclear family is more important as he has asserted over time but making ill-advised decisions that will ruin his relationship with extended family and by extension, his nearly 20-year long career, will have adverse effects on the family he so cherishes, in the long run.

Peter, with the help of his brothers, has successfully embarrassed their family and ultimately, the Psquare brand. Both brothers will be picking the pieces of what is left of Psquare soon enough as their fans have put loyalty aside and are demanding that the brothers either grow up and stick together or go their separate ways, if they so wish.

Peter seems to be the one who is more keen on being a solo artiste but will he win in the end?
