[The Presidential Blog] It’s official! The Presidency, as a unit, is confused

Earlier today, we reported that the Acting President was going to swear-in two new ministers-designate – Stephen Ocheni and Suleiman Hassan – only for President Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu to debunk the report as false via his Twitter handle.

So, a little misunderstanding right?

We immediately reported the story since we had published the earlier one saying the ministers-designate would be sworn-in. That should have fixed it all.

Except it didn’t. Because the media aide to the Acting President. Laolu Akande, almost immediately, took to his own Twitter to post this:

So would there be a swearing-in ceremony tomorrow or not?

If only all of these ended there.

About an hour after Mr Akande’s tweet and time we believe must have been spent engaging in heated conversations between the divided Presidential camp, Mr Akande tried to take the “bigger person” route by tweeting that although Mr Garba was right, there’ll still be a swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.

How come right?

This is something one would like to sweep under the rug as a simple case of miscommunication and one that may never happen again. Except, this isn’t the first time it’s happened.
