If you are anywhere near Twitter today, you’ll see that the Senate Plenary is popping. motions left, right and centre and if you have any business with the Senate, today will be a good day to see if they finally have your time.
We know have some time for the Presidency’s demands today despite the rumoured “feud” between the Presidency and the Senate which has been extremely heated lately. The hottest points have been when the Presidency forwarded names of his political appointees to the Upper chamber. From Magu to the INEC RECs. There’s also the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) nominations which were rejected when they first considered the President’s nominations months ago.
The President had sent 19 names for confirmation to the NDDC board in December but only 16 nominees were confirmed, leaving the representatives of Ondo, Imo and Abia.
The President finally sent new names for those States’ representatives on the board on the 30th of March, in the heat of the Presidency-Senate “feud”. The general perception has been that all Presidential nominations forwarded to the Senate would henceforth be ignored until the President takes an action on their rejection of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of EFCC, as opposed to leaving him indefinitely acting in the position.
But we perceived wrong, it seems, as they have finally turned to the President’s nominations.

Hopefully, this marks the beginning of the ridiculously awkward power play making the rounds.
