[The Presidential Blog] 10 things to know about the Ministry of Agriculture’s Yam Export launch

We spoke about the Ministry of Agriculture’s brilliant initiative to export Nigeria’s incredible amount of yam produce (61% of the total world produce) as a means of aiding the Federal Government’s economic diversification  programme already. Never mind that Nigerians in many parts of the country cannot still afford to benefit from this abundance.

The launch of the export programme is currently happening in Lagos at the Lillypond Container Terminal in Ijora. It has in attendance, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, MD, Nigeria Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman and National Export Promotion Commission’s Mr. Segun Awolowo.

Mrs Bala Usman , at the event, expressed her excitement at the fact “that Nigeria, the largest yam producer is taking its rightful place in the export market”.
