President Buhari ‘falls ill’, VP Osinbajo to represent him at ECOWAS meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly ill and is currently receiving treatment at the Presidential Villa, Premium Times reports.

The President is said to have contracted an ear infection known as Meniere Disease, which has caused the 73-year-old to suffer hearing impairment, severe pain and unusual sounds in the ear.

According to sources privy to the situation, only family members and high profile individuals are aware of the President’s health condition.

The President is reportedly being treated by his physician and other experts from the State House Clinic and might even fly out of the country if the condition persists.

Buhari had received former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo at the presidential villa in the last two days.

The President had, on Thursday, cancelled his proposed visit to Rivers State where he was supposed to flag off the clean up of Ogoni land.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had represented him at the event and also at other events within and outside Nigeria.

Osinbajo will again represent the President at the 48th Ordinary Summit of Head of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) holding this weekend in Dakar, Senegal.
