‘They are posting police officers who have access to kidnappers, cultist to Rivers’ – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, on Monday, warned the Inspector General of Police against reposting corrupt police officers to the state, vowing to expose any fraudulent police officer.

The governor, who stated this while addressing medical practitioners at the Government House in Port Harcourt, noted that he has alerted the Acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, against posting corrupt officers that will undermine the security of the state.

Wike said that some of the police officers were posted back to the state to carry out illegal activities, saying that he would call out such police officers through a state wide broadcast and also described the roles they played in disrupting the security of the state, if the IGP fails to act.

He pointed out a particular senior police officer who had aided kidnappers and cultist in the state. The unnamed officer was posted out of the state in March this year after the role he played in the re-run elections but has been posted back into the oil rich state to undermine the security of the state.

He said, “They are posting back security agents who have access to kidnappers. They are sending back security agents who will compromise the security of Rivers State.”
