The Twitter handle of the main opposition party – Peoples Democratic Party is known for making bold claims and sometimes, far fetched allegations – reminiscent of the ruling All Progressives Congress, when it was on the other side of the table.
But today, the @PdpNigeria Twitter handle has chosen to scare us – Nigerians.
In all fairness, the day started well. It was for a good cause
We wish to once again commend our ever gallant troops for the rescue of one of the abducted Chibok Girls. pic.twitter.com/8ufAqGk1M1

As a party, we have always believed in the capacity of the Nigerian Army to defeat these terrorists & have always supported our troops.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
We have never played politics with national security and will never do so. We wish our troops more success & urge them to crush Boko Haram.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
We are proud of our gallant troops. We are with you and will continue to support you as you dislodge Boko Haram from Sambisa forest.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
For the past one year, Nigerians no longer hear propaganda that our troops are running out of ammunition to fight Boko Haram. #DasukiGate
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
And then, @PdpNigeria chose to make it about themselves and score some political points.
We are excited that we have been vindicated by the activities of the Nigerian military in the last one year. #DasukiGate
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
Now we ask, didn’t they say the last administration did not buy arms for the military? With which arms did the army rescue Amina? #DasukiGate

The offensive
The opposition must never de-market our nation in the eyes of the world. It also must not ridicule Nigerians in its quest for power.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
The lies & propaganda of the then opposition @APCNigeria made nations to stop selling arms to Nigeria. The image of our nation was affected.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
We had to approach black market to buy arms for the Nigerian military.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
The then government did all it could to source for arms through the back-door. There must be limitations in the quest for power.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
And then, the doomsday prophecy
Those who support the crushing of the opposition, Labour Unions and intimidation of the press will one day need these institutions.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
All tyrants will always say they are fighting corruption or in justice in the system in order to enthrone their tyranny.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
“I am not a tyrant”. -Adolf Hitler.
No tyrant will ever accept that he is a tyrant.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
Hitler did it, we are seeing a repetition in Nigeria. There is a deliberate attempt to crush all forms of opposition to this government.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
Those who support the harassment & intimidation of the judiciary by this tyrant will one day need the judiciary to save them from the tyrant
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
Those who support the intimidation and harassment of the National Assembly by the tyrant will one day need that institution to save them.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
The tyrant sanctioned killings of unarmed protesters, you hailed him. He gets emboldened by disobeying Court Orders.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
Then he begins to crush the opposition, you hailed him. Now, he is crushing Labour Unions, Civil Society Groups & intimidating the press.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
Next, he will come for you and there will be no one to save you.
— PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016
No one to save? Errr… how about God?
