Pastor Poju Oyemade’s reply to a Twitter troll is the best thing we have seen from a pastor all year

Poju Oyemade

There are trolls on the loose – that’s no news. The microblogging platform, Twitter, has, in the past few years become the convergence point of trolls and celebrities, the object of the banter.

And in the list of celebrities constantly trolled, pastors are not left out. Although, unlike the former, pastors simply choose to ignore, or at most be soft spoken.

So here’s the backstory.

Pastor Poju Oyemade, Lead Pastor of Covenant Christian Centre had joined the millions of football fans all over the world in Russia for the semi-finals and had posted his picture on Twitter.

And amidst all the pastor hailing and engagement that should naturally take place under a post like that, a troll surfaced.

That might have possibly gone unnoticed or misled a bunch of Twitter users in a hurry to retweet anything that talks negatively about a pastor. Except for this time, Pastor Poju was “armed”. Isn’t that what the Bible encourages us to do?

That was subtle, soft-spoken, yet precise.

Maybe, now, trolls will be on guardand learn to mind their business.

But again, can trolls stop being trolls? Maybe not! But we can all be like Pastor Poju. Having the right words at the right time and for the right situation.
