What Osinbajo approved for NNPC weren’t contracts | Yet another ‘clarification’ by the presidency (READ)

The Presidency has also dismissed reports that the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo approved contracts for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Osinbajo on Thursday had said he only approved loans for the NNPC joint venture financing with the IOCs.

The NNPC had earlier said the Vice President approved the contracts while President Muhammadu Buhari was on medical leave.

This was after the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu wrote a petition to the President accusing NNPC boss, Maikanti Baru of given contracts without approvals.

In a new statement by Osinbajo’s media aide, Laolu Akande, the Presidency said the financings are purely commercial loans.
