Osagie Ehanire reveals 70% of persons with COVID-19 are males – 5 Things that Should Matter Today

Minster of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire has revealed that out of the 2,000 persons that have been tested for the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), 70 percent are males.

According to Ehanire, the age range of infected people so far was between 30 and 60 years but all age brackets could be infected by the viral disease.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Presidential Task Force Briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja, Ehanire also revealed that the country had increased the number of isolation centres and ICU units across the country while two new laboratories have been added to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) network of molecular laboratories for COVID-19 – one in Ebonyi and one in Oyo.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has disclosed that President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have been earning half of their salaries before the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.

The Presidential Spokesperson disclosed this on Channels TV Politics Today, when asked if his principal and his Vice will be donating their salaries just like the members of the Senate and House of Representatives, to support the fight against Coronavirus.

Electricity tarrifs won’t be increased unless DisCo improve supply – Sale Mamman

The Minister of Power, Sale Mamman who reacted to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) statement which confirmed that the plan to increase electricity tariff from April 1 has been postponed, has stated that the plan won’t still take off unless Distribution Companies (DisCos) improve the quality of supply, meter consumers and agree on rates with consumers.

Taraba closes market, bans public gatherings 

The Taraba government has announced the closure of markets in the state and a ban on public gathering of more than 20 people. The state’s Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu who made the announcement on Wednesday April 1, further disclosed that the stay at home order and closure of the state borders is still in force.
