Opinion: Dear @PDPNigeria, you have endorsed a continuation of insurgency in #Nigeria!

by Alwad Hassan

Last week, a bombshell was released, when the PDP endorsed President GEJ as the sole PDP, for the 2015 Presidential election. It didn’t come as a surprise to some, who have been reading and analyzing the body language of the PDP. But it did surprise some though, given the abysmal performance of the President in office. But the question that needs to be asked is: “What did the PDP really endorse?”
At a televised presidential media chat about two years ago, the President, responded to a question, with the “unpresidential” statement that is infra-dig to his his office: “I don’t give a damn!”. With the senseless and gruesome killings remaining unabated; the insurgency growing by the day; swaths of territory being occupied by Boko Haram and our national sovereignty under threat; is the PDP endorsing a President that is clueless and bereft of the political will to curb and end this scourge? Or are they blinded by power to signal to us that, they endorse his posture of cluelessness and inaction of not giving a damn to end this mess?
As the events unfold, the atmosphere is heavy with uncertainty. Things appear confusing as there are more posters & billboards of Jonathan’s 2015 re-election campaign than there is fuel in our vehicles. Sheriff & Ihejirika have been sponsoring Pro-Jonathan’s rallies just as they seem to be sponsoring Boko Haram insurgents. Electricity supply has declined to its worst ever stage turning the country into a grave yard whilst the Transformation Campaign proceeds.
Lamentably, what the PDP endorsed was a continuation of an insurgency that has crippled a certain region, business-as-usual for corrupt friends like Oritsejafor and a politicization of our polity at all costs, with an eagle eye on 2015. This wasn’t an endorsement on achievements, but a sycophantic endorsement on the spectacular failures recorded by the President since 2010.
As if the endorsement isn’t pregnant with meanings, it only goes a long way to show us that, the President has endorsed corruption. Never mind him lecturing us on the difference between stealing and corruption. But looking at it from the prism of those that endorsed him, comprising the PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Mu’azu, Jigawa State Governor who has sold out his people to protect his child, Chief DSP Alameiyesigya, Chief FFK, Mohammed Abacha etc, gives us an easy surmise  why he was overwhelmed. The corruption charges leveled against the PDP Chairman and FFK have been dropped. Chief DSP has been pardoned. Abacha’s loots are being shared between the FG & his family. And the coterie of those pardoned are endless within the PDP. So, is this an endorsement for protection against the EFCC, or an endorsement of promoting stealing and corruption, while the nation bleeds profusely from this menace? Is this what the PDP endorses?
Despite the presence of Boko Haram, the president steeled himself of criticism and allowed thousands, to rally across the country to insist on his candidature. So, by insisting on his candidature in a season of insurgency, are they endorsing the fast dissemination of the crime against humanity, just because of the peanuts and crumbs that may be thrown at them? And is the president endorsing their action, by keeping mum about the rallies? Is this what the PDP is endorsing?

  1. You are a sycophant and your post is rubbish. I mean nasty rubbish. You better have a change of heart towards your president GEJ and others in position of Authority. You are blind folded and it wont help you. Have you perform your own civic responsibilities as a good citizen and patriotic Nigerian before criticising him as if you can do better than him if being put in his shoes.

  2. Alwan hassan! You are ignorant of the happenings in nigeria, its seems to me that you reside in congo and dont even have the slightest idea of what’s uptainable in nigeria. Goodluck will still be your president come 2015 so pray more and criticize with facts.
