Ondo election: Mimiko relocates to Abuja

The Governor of Ondo, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, says he has relocated to Abuja on a part-time basis in order to ensure justice for Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, candidate of the Ahmed-Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to The Punch, Mimiko made the remark while speaking in Akure on Wednesday at a programme in honour of the Founder, Oodua Peoples Congress, Dr. Frederick Fasehun.

The governor said, “I am now a part-time resident of Abuja these days (in order) to ensure my people get justice and I know the injustice will not stand.”

There is an ongoing battle between the Ali-Modu Sheriff faction and the Ahmed Makarfi faction over the replacement of Jegede’s name as the party’s candidate by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Acting on a court order, the electoral body named Jimoh Ibrahim as the party’s candidate in the November 26, election.
