The Ondo State House of Assembly has appointed Mr. Malachi Coker as its acting speaker following the resignation of the Speaker, Jumoke Akindele on Monday in Akure, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Akindele resigned following a meeting brokered by the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu at the weekend.
The legislators also appointed Arowele Samuel from Owo l Constituency, as the Deputy Speaker, while Olamide George, representing Akure North Constituency as the Majority Leader and Mukaila Musa as the Minority Leader.
The officers are to be in office pending when election is held for the positions.
