On Sadness | The Daily Vulnerable

The Daily Vulnerable

When I tell people that sadness is good, they look at me as if I’m mad. I think the Christian Bible says there is a time to be sad. To live a joyful life does not mean you will be happy every day; to live a joyful life means you are able to process all the emotions that come to you in proportion, that means, it include knowing how to be sad.

If you loose a wife, a loved one, a job, a contract or a friend of course you should be sad, but how will you be sad?

It is not sadness that matters in this life. You will be sad. Things will happen in your life that will make you sad, and there is absolutely nothing wrong in being sad. What is most important is not the sadness in itself, it is what you choose to do with the sadness.

Will you mourn like those who have no hope? Will you pretend like all of your life is terrible, because one thing is going wrong?

Or will you put it in perspective and acknowledge that some things are not going well, but some other things are going well and both of them together are the sum of a life well lived.
