Rio Olympics: Argentina defeats Nigeria 94 – 66

Nigeria’s male basketball team, D’Tigers lost their first game at the 2016 Rio Olympics to South American giants Argentina.

The Argentines led by San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili took the first quarter 22-15.

Facundo Campazzo led Argentina with 19 points, while flag bearer Luis Scola had 18 for the 2004 gold medalists. Patricio Garino finished with 15 in front of crowd filled with flag-waving Argentina fans who sang and chanted for much of the night.

Nigeria’s top players on the night were Ike Diogu who scored 15 points and 13 rebounds just as Ebi Ere and Andy Ogide scored 14 and 11 points respectively.

Nigeria’s next game is against Lithuania on Tuesday by 11pm.
