Things are still looking up for Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and her World Bank Presidency campaign.

Recently, the  Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States of America, Prof. Ade Adefuye, joined her campaign describing her as “manifestly superior” to any other.

According to The Guardian, the ambassador was filled with praise for Okonjo-Iweala in an interview with the North American Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria in New York on Sunday.

He said following the endorsement of Okonjo-Iweala’s candidacy by the African Union (AU), a meeting of the African Ambassadors to the U.S. was summoned and was attended by all ambassadors including ambassadors from other developing countries, where they were urged to appeal to the conscience of the world that it was time to emphasise quality and qualification, rather than politics in the selection of the Bank’s President. “As far as the condition of the post is concerned and quality is concerned, Okonjo-Iweala is above other candidates,” he said.

The Guardian also claims the Ambassador went as far as meeting with the Jamaican Ambassador to solicit support for the Minister. “She will make the World Bank more relevant to the developing countries. She will make developing countries to have sense of belonging in the World Bank,” he said.
