28-year-old man rapes two 19-year-olds

A 28-year-old man, has been remanded in prison over an alleged rape of two teenagers in Ogun state.

Delivering the judgement at an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, the Chief Magistrate, Anthony Araba, who did not take the plea of the accused, ordered that he should be remanded in Ibara Prisons pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

It was learnt that the accused committed the offences on August 24, at Alagbagbo Village, Odeda near Abeokuta, at about 10.00 pm.

He said the accused with three other suspects, who are still at large had accosted two teenagers (19-year-old) while returning from church, stole N6,000 from them, and raped them.

Sangotokun said the offences contravened Sections 357, 358, 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.

The accused faces a four-count charge of conspiracy, assault, stealing and rape.

The case has been adjourned to October 6.
