NSCDC arrests 15-year-old boy with drugs, fake currency

A 15-year-old boy, identified as Umar Alhassan has been arrested by the Niger State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps for allegedly supplying cannabis to some residents in the state.

The command on Saturday said the suspect who was arrested along Gidan Mongoro Bida Road was also in possession of fake N1,000 and N500 bills amounting to N3,500, asides the drugs found on him.

The State Commandant, NSCDC, Philip Ayuba, said the suspect would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation.

However, Umar claimed he received the money as payment for his services, saying he was not aware that the money was fake and has been using it.

The suspect also said he had just been released from a remand home in Minna while pleading for mercy.
