Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has asked Nigerians to disregard rumours that something unpleasant has happened to the President.
Buhari had traveled to London for a medical follow-up this month.
In a statement on Sunday, Shehu said rumours have started flying around that something has happened to Buhari.
He described the information as “plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic.”
He said, “Baseless rumours are trending again that an unpleasant thing has happened to our beloved President, Muhammadu Buhari.
“If you have received this information on WhatsApp or Facebook, disregard it because it is plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic.
“Nothing unpleasant has happened to the President. No cause for apprehension. Thanks for the many calls.”
Recall that there had been rumours of Buhari’s death when he first traveled to London for medical treatment early this year.
