This is the new Nokia 215 || It can browse the internet, and will cost less than N6,000

by Muyiwa Matuluko

In a move that indicates continued preference of “Nokia” brand name for its featurephone line, despite having rebranded the smartphone line to just “Lumia”, Microsoft has launched yet another affordable internet enabled featurephone – the Nokia 215.

Like it’s predecessors in the 30+ featurephone series – Nokia 220 and 225 – the Nokia 215 comes with a couple of smartphone-esque features including 2G connectivity, expandable external memory of up to 32GB and apps like Facebook, Twitter and Opera Mini browser. Nothing particularly outstanding in comparison with its predecessor. Except that it is essentially a cheaper version of the Nokia 225. At launch, it will retail for around $29 (about N5320) before taxes – almost half what the 225 retailed for at launch.

The Nokia 215, which will come in Single and Dual SIM variants, is set to launch in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East in the first quarter of 2015.
