No less than 102 petition written against Fayose

More than 102 petitions have been written to the Inspector General of Police against the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, a Punch investigation has shown.

The petitions were said to have been written by persons who were either harassed, detained or beaten before, during, and after the 2014 governorship election in the state, which saw Fayose booting the incumbent governor of the state out of office.

According to the report, the petitions were written majorly by the main opposition party in the state and allegedly coordinated by the state chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Jude Awe.

The police has begun investigating the petitions and is set to invite loyalist of the governor who were mentioned in the petition.

A team of police officers led by CPS Ndah are investigating the petitions.

Speaking on the petitions, a senior police officer told Punch that: “The police have over 102 petitions against the governor which we are investigating. Soon, we will start inviting the suspects for interrogation,” the senior police officer said.

“We have the petitions already worked on by a senior police officer, who is retired now, but we are looking at them again so that it doesn’t look as if we are sweeping anything under the carpet.”

The state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Taiwo Olatunbosun, confirmed that the party has written petitions against the governor.

He said: “In fact, we wrote another petition two days ago to the DSS and the police based on the attack on our members. Our properties at various times had been destroyed by PDP thugs. All these allegations, among others should be investigated.”
